He appears to have died prior to the 1895 census and Mary is listed as the head of household in the 1900 census.

There is a marriage record in Tipton Co., IN dated 26 May 1849 for John T. Lane and Drusila Sawyer. John was living alone with his brother on 15 Aug 1850.

He married Mary Elizabeth Allison 14 Feb 1856 in Hardin Co., IA according to marriage abstracts. She was born 13 Mar 1834 in Persia, Woodford Co., IL according to RLDS church records. According to her death certificate she was born in Mar 1833. Her parents were George Allison and Francis Warnock. She is listed in the 1895 census of Boone Co., IA at age 60 with her son, William. She is listed in the 1900 census as head of household with daughter, Anna. She died 1 Dec 1904 in Boone Co., IA. She was buried at Rose Cemetery 4 Dec 1904. Mary's address at the time of her death was 719 6th, Boone, IA.

17. Mary Lane was born about 1833. She married Joseph McCoun 29 Dec 1850 in Howard Co., IN according to marriage abstracts. They moved to Hardin Co., IA in 1854. In 1858 they moved to Davis Co., IA and in moved to Blackhawk Co., IA. In 1868 they moved to Cherokee Co., IA where he obtained 160 acres. In addition to farming, he was a carpenter and wagon maker.
18. Isaac Lane was born 19 Mar 1835 in Boone Co., IN. He moved to Howard Co., IN with his parents at an early age. He was listed in the 1860 census of Cedar TWP, Benton Co., IA living with his mother and Mary, age 12. In 1869 he moved to Cherokee Co., IA where he obtained 160 acres in Section 32. This land was sold to Joseph McCoun and Isaac obtained 120 acres in Sections 31 and 32. In 1888 he moved to Washta and Washta House. (This information is taken from Biographical History of Cherokee Co., IA, W. S. Dunbar & Co, 1889. This books names his parents and siblings Mary, Margaret, Thomas and John T.) He is listed in the 1880 census of Willow TWP, Cherokee Co., IA living with his sister Margaret Dodson. He is listed as age 47 and single.

Note 1:

The 1830 census of Boone Co., IN on page 203 lists John Lane age 30-40 with five sons and two daughters. He is listed next to Thomas Standage, father of his wife Charity. The 1840 census of Boone Co., IN also lists John Lane, age 40-50. When compared with the ages in the 1850 census two earlier censuses indicate that these are the same family. They also indicate that there was an unknown son who born past 1840.

The 1850 census of Howard Co., IN list John and Charity with sons Jesse and Isaac. Living in the next two dwelling are sons Thomas, John and Edward. Also living in Howard County is James Lane, age 31 (born about 1819). This would be the correct age for Charity�s first born and the age fits the census. In 1860 two of his children resided with Porter Vandewark in Grundy Co., IA which adjoined Dallas County where John T. Lane Resided. However, there is no evidence that this person was related to John Lane and Charity.

The 1830 census of Boone Co., KY lists Jesse Lane, age 70-80. He lived in the vicinity of John Lane as well as several other younger Lane families. There is no evidence of any connection between these families.

�Was Thomas �T� the Father of Alexander Standridge?�

�We do know from our Standridge DNA project that he had a close family connection with James Standridge, the Revolutionary War veteran;�

�Probate records in Boone Co., IN indicate that Thomas died early in 1834, leaving heirs, Charity and Catherine Lane.

�Our first clue came from Franklin County, GA Deeds and Mortgages 1802 � 1803, Book �O�, p. 66. It contains a copy of a deed where Thomas Standridge made a gift of all his �cattle being in number fourteen and one mare the color bay� to his son, Thomas Jr. dated February 15, 1802. � he signed with a very distinct �mark�, �Thomas �T? Standridge�. Instead of the usual �X�, ��

�Our second clue is from a Marion County, IN court case obtained from the IN State Archives. It related to a dispute dating from March 26, 1810 between William, Aaron, and Thomas Standridge and Nathan Haggard concerning the sale of horses. � Here is how the said Standridges signed the original note, William �X� Standridge, Aaron �X� Standridge, and Thomas �T� Standridge. Note that while William and Aaron using the usual �X� sign, Thomas signed with a unusual yet familiar mark �T�, the identical mark used by Thomas in GA just a few years before.�

�Thus, it is our considered opinion that the Thomas Standridge who lived in SC and GA is the same man who later lived and died in IN.�
